Machine à expresso portable STARESSO Plus - SP300 PLUS

I have a lot of coffee related paraphernalia, and this new contraption has further elevated my passion for the coffee bean. I also purchased the STARESSO Plus Accessory Filter Basket, 53mm 304 Stainless Steel Bottomless Portafilter. Between the filter basket that comes with the Staresso and the 53mm one, you can't go wrong if you want a smooth cup. Breaking the machine down to clean made me feel like a sharp shooter cleaning his weapon, and getting ready for my next "Shot", but it's a fun and easy process. Lots of parts to this simple looking device, but it is easy to understand and use. This seems to be made to last a long time, and I intend to find out every morning from now on.

Hearing about people who spend ~1k for a two persons machine, I was not only happy two find something like this Espresso maker, it has stirred my love for coffee specialities in a whole new way. Admitted: It still is a very good reason for me to be making a lot myself and not having a machine do all the work. After 5 years I have now bought a second one - one travels with me as fixed Equipment into bikeparks, gives me a splendid moment to kick back, relax and enjoy everything the past years have refined about taste while everyone else spends surprising amounts of time in queues and pays surprising amounts of money on thinned out stuff. I would buy again in any case!

This gizmo was exactly what I need on the road. I now pack a travel hot water kettle, ground coffee and my gizmo…Value for money and very functional.

I was hesitant at first, could it really deliver the crema? It did not disappoint!! First shot out of the box was smooth, robust, “oily”, and tasty. Very easy to use. Second “push” I utilized my 53mm filter. I’ll have to practice as there was no crema - maybe not tight enough?Machine has great feel, aluminum and stainless steel. Screwed joints are smooth and precise, no slip or slop. Seals are large and easy to clean - no flimsy orings. Plunger does have prong at bottom - no problems with it at all.I grind my own beans, and I would recommend not using pre-ground due to lack of oils.

I finally figured out how to make it super strong with thick creamy crema. Invest in a great 53mm tamp and pack it down as tightly as you can, then tighten everything on the staresso itself like the pump and the distributor. I grind fresh beans manually because it's the finest I can get it which brings the most flavor along with tamping. I have a Kitcoff grinder that you can adjust yourself. Then, I use two shot glasses. I place the first on there, pump until the glass is full like you see in the image, then refill the hot water, grounds, tamp, and pump again using the second glass. The quality is profound. I don't use the espresso glass that comes with it because I find that what comes out after more than the first glass is more or less like coffee. This is what works best for me. Staresso Plus is great little espresso device, I really like the vertical pumping instead of horizontal like some others. It's really easy to apply pressure and has been making really good shots.

The machine is truly impressive, capable of crafting espresso in under 10 minutes no matter where you are. Its high pressure system expertly extracts the flavor from the ground coffee, resulting in a perfectly brewed espresso with a luscious crema and delightful aroma. This is exactly what I am looking for.

Easy to use, makes amazing coffee, quickly. It makes some of the cheapest coffee taste good... I bought this on a whim (as i have had several "home" machines and wrote them all off - even la pavoni) and am completely satisfied. This is one of those devices that can really shake the market up, my only concern is that the company will go under and I won't be able to get another one when i ware this one out. I made my love a cortado she loved it and couldn't tell the diff from the $6 one she gets. After i had pulled(pushed LOL) several shots, I made an affogato and was amazed.

BUY THIS you won't regret it.

Super easy to use, it makes amazing tasting espresso. Even out of regular coffee beans. It's has now become my preferred method of making coffee.

The only thing I have a small problem with is that dumping grinds can be a bit of a pain. It doesn't make a dry puck that's easy to discard. But besides that, AWESOME product.

This coffee maker built with quality material. Once you figured out all the parts then it becomes relatively easy to use. To brew coffee, you will need to boil water first, remember this is a manual coffee maker. You will pump the water slowly (1-2 seconds per pump) to pressurize the chamber to extract coffee. It makes decent flavor of coffee. I like it.

This product claims to be made for travel, I wish they would have include a travel bag for it. The legs can be folded but not locked, you certainly need to find a bag to hold it together for travel.
Overall, this is a nice little coffee machine built with quality material.

This review is for the STARESSO Portable Coffee Maker. You get the maker itself, a stand to hold it, and a little coffee measuring cup, as well as a built-in espresso cup that also acts as a cap for it.

Pro tip: The top of this press, the handle that comes out, can be used as a coffee tamper in a pinch. It won't get your grinds as tight as you want but it does work to get a decent espresso going.

This works great. I love it. I cannot believe how good of an espresso it produced. There are some tricks to using it though. It will not do anything until you have it loaded with coffee in there. It does not create suction or pressure with just the water. Once loaded completely and ready to go press down on the handle and wait a few seconds and repeat. Work this slowly do not pump super fast. You will know it is working correctly when there is resistance with each pump you do.

Overall this is a great machine. It worked exactly as I expected it do and I had no issues operating it. I can absolutely recommend it for a portable espresso maker.

This is the third version of this coffee maker I've tried and I can tell you, that STARESSO has been listening to customers and making improvements with every version. The first version of their coffee machine had a few weaknesses that could allow a careless user to break the machine. This version is very sturdy. It packs small, making it a perfect companion on my sailboat. The new folding stand is very stable, even on the waves. They' made a good machine better with every version!

This doesn't make a lot of coffee at a time, but I can pull two shots out of this maker in about five minutes without any problem. It cleans up easily and it's easy to teach guests how to make coffee with this tool.

STARESSO also makes a very good hand-driven coffee grinder. It's a perfect complement to this coffee maker.

I liked the idea of their first version. I've given these as gifts and upgraded to this version for myself. I think you will like it too if you want a mocha that is almost espresso while camping or boating. It's very good!

I’ve had a chance to use the Staresso espresso maker for a couple of weeks now, and I absolutely love it! It it makes an outstanding espresso, and one of the things I especially love about it is the fact that you can effectively pull several shots from this device.
I own another portable espresso maker and it requires a little bit more effort. As for portability, the Staresso is perfect for road trips, and even airplane trips. It is bigger than my other portable espresso maker, but worth the extra room to get such high quality and high volume espresso. All in all this is a beautifully designed espresso maker. It suits its name, “Staresso”, based on the way it looks. And it functions incredibly well.

The Staresso manual espresso maker is a really neat from an industrial design perspective. The built quality is really good and everything functions smoothly. The touch materials are a satisfying combination of rubber and plastic. Everything threads together well and firmly. The instructions are pretty clear on assembly and it goes together logically. The marks on the inner chamber are accurate enough and take a lot of guessing out of ratios.

I used the Staresso manual grinder at 4. The coffee to water ratio recommended in the manual is 18-22g to 120-180ml. Clean up is straight forward and pretty easy.

Overall, the Staresso Plus espresso machine is a fairly unique and interesting way to make coffee. If you want to try espresso, and not go all-in on a high end machine, the Staresso Plus is a way to go.

STARESSO plus coffee machine is a clever and fun device to use to make espresso at home or on the go. I have several ways to make coffee, including a fancy machine that grinds and makes almost any kind of coffee beverage, a "Melitta pour over" cone, an Aeropress, a GoJo straw and regular drip machine (for parties!). So I consider myself an expert. Set up for the shot is very easy. Put in the grinds into the coffee basket, tamp down with the plunger top or tamper, attach, pour in hot water in the top, close and pump away. After a few pumps you feel the pressure build up and the coffee starts to come out and fill the cup. It is absolutely delicious, the crema (foam) on top was perfect. The flavor of the medium roast beans was excellent and strong without bitterness. What a fun way to make coffee! Comparing this to the Aeropress, which is not really an espresso maker but can be used that way, I would say they are equal and that is saying a lot. The Aeropress makes the best coffee out there. This is about as good. And for the taste of a really great espresso almost anywhere, this is a great coffee "toy" for coffee freaks like myself!
